Louis Marechal
Francia, 1884 - 1971
His painting is well-structured, if in some works one observes references that can be linked to the Ecole de Barbizon, others are clearly post-impressionist, sometimes adopting the pointillist technique.
He was a professor at the Ecole-des-Beaux-Arts in Brest from 1931 to 1943. During the German occupation he took refuge in Limoges where he settled for a time and exhibited his works a few years later, from 1973 to 1976.
At first he executed mainly Breton landscapes; later, having settled in Limousin, he painted its places until his death.
